With less than 48-hours to mutate and claim Otherside land, here are the calculations

When Bored Ape Yacht Club airdropped serums last year I had a plan, hold onto an M1 and M2 and try to be the last ape standing. So far, I've stuck to my guns, I still have an M1 and M2 serum...but with less than 48-hours left in the Otherside Metaverse claim period, I'm debating using my M1.
So far, most people I've asked both on Twitter and Discord the vibe has been - use it, mutate and claim the land, and ApeCoin! This is a very special juncture in the Bored Ape Yacht Club world because it may be the only time you can use the serums and as a result, claim two things for free.
Just to review what happens if you mutate, using an M1 serum, you'll end up with the following:
- a Mutant Ape (current floor is ~19ETH)
- an Otherdeed in the Chemical Goo section of the Otherside Metaverse
- 2,042 ApeCoin which at the current ApeCoin price comes out to around $16,500 USD
At the same time, the M1 serums are going for 39ETH or roughly $78,000. So if you do the math and assume that you end up getting an Otherdeed that does not have a Koda on it, here's the math ⬇️

So if everything stays equal, you'll be down about $15,000 with this move...unless of course you get a Koda on your land, then everything changes. Currently the floor on land, in Chemical Goo with a Koda on it is 23.76ETH. This would turn that $7,500 for the Otherdeed into $47,520 which would yield a profit of $25,000.
And let's not forget, there's always that crazy chance that you get a Mega Koda, and well, then the profit is astronomical. I tried modeling out different scenarios where the price of ETH, ApeCoin, and Mutants goes up, because I do think they will once we're out of this current market downturn. But, and this is a big but, in the past the M1 serum floor moves in lockstep with other variables which means it would also go up and the scaling might stay the same ore even buoy more in the green for M1 serums since it's fair to say they will become increasingly scarce.
It's a tough choice and I think it's going to come down to the wire for me. I'll make sure to report back and share what I do but for anyone else in this situation, it's a tough one, and the math doesn't look great, unless you're feeling lucky 🤞
